MINI is one of the German makes we are called out to most in Dubai, and almost always for the same reason: the car turned over slowly for a week and then did not turn over at all.
On most of the range it is under the bonnet or under the boot floor depending on generation. That matters more than it sounds: the quote you are given over the phone assumes a location, and a battery that turns out to be under a seat or in the boot is a different job. We ask for the model and year before quoting, so the price you are told is the price you pay.
Slow cranking that clears once it is running, headlights that dim as you turn the key, an idle-stop system that has quietly given up, or a dashboard clock that resets — a MINI gives you all four warnings before it strands you, and most owners notice the first one about three weeks too late.
For MINI, like BMW, the battery must be registered after replacement or the charging profile stays set to the old one. Most of the current range has a start-stop system, which means AGM or EFB is the floor, not an upgrade — a standard flooded battery in a start-stop car is cycled far beyond what it was built for and typically fails inside a year.

Two to three years is normal in Dubai. Anything over four is unusual, and a battery that has done three summers should be tested rather than trusted.
