Car body panel being resprayed in a paint booth

Guide · Basics

What Is Body & Paint?

Panel work and colour-matched refinishing in a controlled spray booth. In practice it means panel straightening, replacement and structural alignment, plus the checks that confirm the fault was what it looked like.

Body work is judged in daylight from three metres away, and that is a harder standard than it sounds. Getting there means the panel is straight before any filler goes on, the colour is mixed to your car's paint code and then tinted against the actual panel, and the whole thing is baked in a booth rather than dried in a yard full of Dubai dust.

Why the blend matters more than the match

Even a perfect code match sits differently on a fresh panel than on one that has had five years of Dubai sun on it. A repair that stops at the panel edge shows as a slightly different shade in daylight forever. Blending the new colour into the adjacent panels is what makes the repair invisible, and it is the step most commonly skipped on a cheap quote.

Sun damage is a body shop job

Clear coat failure — that milky, peeling patch on a roof or bonnet — is not correctable by polishing. The clear has broken down and the only real fix is to strip and refinish the panel. It is extremely common on dark cars parked outdoors here, and it is worth doing before the base coat starts to go too.

Why it matters more here

Dubai compresses every wear cycle a car has. Ambient heat, fine airborne sand and the stop-start driving that most local mileage is made of mean components reach a given wear state at a lower odometer reading than the manufacturer's schedule assumes. Service intervals written for temperate climates are optimistic here, and this job is one of the places that shows.

How to tell it was done properly

You should be shown the old part, told what the test read before and after, and given the price you were quoted rather than a revised one. Those three are cheap for an honest workshop to provide and awkward for a dishonest one, which is exactly why they are worth asking for.

Questions we get asked

How long does body and paint work take?

A single panel respray is typically 2 to 3 days including bake and cure time. Multi-panel or structural work runs longer, and we give you a date rather than a range once the car is stripped.

Will the new paint match my car exactly?

We mix to your VIN paint code and then test-spray a card against the actual panel before touching the car, because sun-faded paint rarely matches its own code. The colour is adjusted until it does.

Do you handle insurance repairs?

Yes, and we will also quote the same job privately so you can compare before deciding whether to claim.

Think your car needs it?

Call, or send your location on WhatsApp. We will tell you the price before we set off.
