We mention it because a battery call-out is the cheapest time to have someone look at the rest of the car, and because the same heat that killed the battery has been working on everything else under the bonnet for the same number of summers.

That matters more than it sounds: the quote you are given over the phone assumes a location, and a battery that turns out to be under a seat or in the boot is a different job. We ask for the model and year before quoting, so the price you are told is the price you pay.
