A Genesis EQ900 battery in Dubai is a two-to-three year part, not a five-year one, and knowing that is the difference between replacing it on a Tuesday afternoon and replacing it in a car park at midnight.
These are AGM cars and must be replaced with AGM; a flooded battery in a Genesis will not survive the electrical load or the registration process. On the EQ900 specifically, which the vehicle database lists across model years 2015 to 2018, the safe approach is to read the label on the battery that is in the car now and match its group size, terminal side and capacity — or to give us the year and let us look it up.
One loud click with bright dashboard lights is the starter. Rapid clicking with dimming lights is the battery or a corroded terminal. Starting fine and then dying while driving is the alternator. We test all three at the roadside before fitting anything, because replacing a healthy battery on a Genesis EQ900 with a failing alternator leaves you exactly where you started, two days later.
Model years from roughly 2014 onward are likely to have a start-stop system, and a start-stop car cycles its battery hundreds of times more often than a conventional one. A standard flooded battery in that duty typically fails within a year. AGM or EFB is not an upsell here — it is the specification.
Heavily equipped cabins draw significant current parked, so a car left at the airport for two weeks is a realistic flat-battery scenario. For the battery specifically: park in shade where you can, drive far enough to actually recharge rather than only starting the car, and have it load-tested before summer rather than after. A battery that reads 12.4 volts at rest can still fail its load test, and the load test is the one that predicts the morning it does not start.
