Stop-start Jeeps carry a small auxiliary battery alongside the main one, and a no-start with a healthy main battery is very often the auxiliary. On the Compass specifically, which the vehicle database lists across model years 2006 to 2026, the safe approach is to read the label on the battery that is in the car now and match its group size, terminal side and capacity — or to give us the year and let us look it up.

Model years from roughly 2014 onward are likely to have a start-stop system, and a start-stop car cycles its battery hundreds of times more often than a conventional one. A standard flooded battery in that duty typically fails within a year. AGM or EFB is not an upsell here — it is the specification.
Wrangler and Grand Cherokee cooling systems and their fan clutches are the heat items to watch here. For the battery specifically: park in shade where you can, drive far enough to actually recharge rather than only starting the car, and have it load-tested before summer rather than after. A battery that reads 12.4 volts at rest can still fail its load test, and the load test is the one that predicts the morning it does not start.
