Surface temperatures in an uncovered car park exceed what bare hands tolerate, tools left in the sun burn, and heat exhaustion arrives faster than most people expect. A job that is an easy hour in a European garage is not the same job in a Discovery Gardens car park in July.
The narrow temporary spare is rated to 80 km/h and a limited distance. It has a smaller rolling radius than the other three wheels, which on an all-wheel-drive car puts continuous load through the centre differential. It is there to get you to a tyre, not to be driven on for a week.
This job is priced after inspection because the fault has to be found before it can be quoted. Attempting it blind means replacing parts in sequence until the symptom goes, and that is almost always the dearest route to a fix.
