The honest answer to how long a scratch repair takes has two halves: the work, which is predictable, and everything around it, which is where the day actually goes. Here is both.
3 hours to 2 days on a car with nothing unusual about it. That figure assumes the diagnosis is already done and the right parts are on the van or the shelf — which is why we confirm the car and the fault on the call rather than discovering both on arrival.
A seized fastener, a part that has to be ordered, or a second fault found while the first is being fixed. We tell you as soon as we know rather than at the end, and if the extra work changes the price you agree to the new number before we carry on.
A scratch you cannot feel with a fingernail is above the colour layer and comes out with abrasive polishing, because polishing works by levelling the clear coat down to the base of the mark. One you can feel has gone through the clear and no amount of polishing will bring the missing colour back.
