What follows is what pre-purchase inspection on a Volkswagen specifically involves, what it costs, and what we check while the car is with us.
Every visit includes a battery health test — not a voltage reading, a load test — because a Volkswagen in Dubai is on a two-to-three year battery cycle and the cheapest time to find a failing one is while somebody is already looking at the car. On the start-stop models in this range that also means checking whether the battery has been registered, because an unregistered replacement is being charged to the wrong profile.
Factory paint is a consistent thickness within a narrow band. A repaired panel reads two or three times that, and a filled one reads off the scale. A gauge sweep takes ten minutes and finds accident repair that a good body shop made invisible. It is the single most informative test on a used car in this market.
Cars are imported into and exported out of the UAE constantly, and some arrive with water history. Corrosion under carpets, silt in the spare wheel well, cloudy headlamp interiors and mismatched seat-rail bolts are the tells. Separately, a car that has spent ten years outdoors here has heat-cracked dash plastics, perished bushes and cooked rubber regardless of mileage.
Volkswagen is a German make, and DSG gearboxes want their fluid and filter service on schedule, and here that schedule should be read as a maximum rather than a target. For a pre-purchase inspection specifically that means we price the parts to the model rather than the badge, and we check the items that go alongside it on this range instead of quoting a flat figure and finding out later.

Yes for most of the checks. A full underbody and chassis inspection needs a lift, so if the seller will release the car for an hour we would rather do it properly at the workshop.
