If your Fiat 124 needed a jump start this week, the useful question is not which battery to buy. It is whether the battery is the fault at all.
One loud click with bright dashboard lights is the starter. Rapid clicking with dimming lights is the battery or a corroded terminal. Starting fine and then dying while driving is the alternator. We test all three at the roadside before fitting anything, because replacing a healthy battery on a Fiat 124 with a failing alternator leaves you exactly where you started, two days later.
With a range ending in 1985, this is very likely a conventional car with no start-stop system, which means a good standard battery in the correct group size does the job. AGM would last longer but you would be paying for cycle life the car never uses.
AC condensers sit exposed and collect debris; a clean stack fixes more no-cooling complaints on these than any other single job. For the battery specifically: park in shade where you can, drive far enough to actually recharge rather than only starting the car, and have it load-tested before summer rather than after. A battery that reads 12.4 volts at rest can still fail its load test, and the load test is the one that predicts the morning it does not start.
The 124 is a coupe, and the tighter engine bay means battery height and terminal orientation matter as much as capacity. That is not a detail — battery choice is driven as much by physical size, hold-down type and parked current draw as it is by cranking amps, and getting one of the three wrong is how a correctly-specified battery ends up failing early.
