What follows is what transmission repair on a Jetour specifically involves, what it costs, and what we check while the car is with us.
Every visit includes a battery health test — not a voltage reading, a load test — because a Jetour in Dubai is on a two-to-three year battery cycle and the cheapest time to find a failing one is while somebody is already looking at the car. On the start-stop models in this range that also means checking whether the battery has been registered, because an unregistered replacement is being charged to the wrong profile.
Several manufacturers describe their transmission fluid as lifetime fill. The lifetime in question is the warranty period, not the car's. In Dubai heat, fluid that has never been changed at 120,000 km is the most common single cause of the failures we rebuild.
A jolt into gear, a flare between ratios or a refusal to select drive when cold is far more often a solenoid, a pressure sensor or a mechatronic fault than worn clutch packs. Those are days of work apart in cost, and the diagnosis takes an hour.
Jetour is a Chinese make, and new to the market and generally trouble-free; keeping to the service schedule is mostly a warranty consideration. For a transmission repair specifically that means we price the parts to the model rather than the badge, and we check the items that go alongside it on this range instead of quoting a flat figure and finding out later.
The engine revs climb without the car accelerating proportionally, most obviously under load or on an incline. Any delay between selecting drive and the car moving is the same warning.
A pressure flush on a neglected high-mileage box can dislodge deposits that were holding pressure and cause immediate failure. We drain, drop the pan and change the filter instead, which is slower and considerably safer.
It varies widely by unit. We quote fixed after inspection, and we always price the alternative — a tested used unit with a warranty — alongside it so you can compare.
