Keeping a Japanese car's battery alive through a Dubai summer

CVT gearboxes in the Altima and X-Trail need their fluid changed far earlier than the schedule suggests once they have spent a few summers in Dubai traffic. For the battery specifically: park in shade where you can, drive far enough to actually recharge rather than only starting the car, and have it load-tested before summer rather than after. A battery that reads 12.4 volts at rest can still fail its load test, and the load test is the one that predicts the morning it does not start.

What kind of car this is, and why that changes the battery

The AD is a saloon, which usually means a mid-size battery in an accessible bonnet position. That is not a detail — battery choice is driven as much by physical size, hold-down type and parked current draw as it is by cranking amps, and getting one of the three wrong is how a correctly-specified battery ends up failing early.

Which battery a Nissan AD takes

The Patrol and Pathfinder take large-capacity batteries that many suppliers do not stock; we carry them because they are one of the most common calls we take.
