If your BYD M3 needed a jump start this week, the useful question is not which battery to buy. It is whether the battery is the fault at all.
This is very likely a conventional car with no start-stop system, which means a good standard battery in the correct group size does the job. AGM would last longer but you would be paying for cycle life the car never uses.
Thermal management is well handled, but tyre wear and brake corrosion from regenerative braking are worth watching. For the battery specifically: park in shade where you can, drive far enough to actually recharge rather than only starting the car, and have it load-tested before summer rather than after. A battery that reads 12.4 volts at rest can still fail its load test, and the load test is the one that predicts the morning it does not start.
The M3 is an SUV, so it carries a physically larger battery than a saloon of the same age and a heavier parked electrical load. That is not a detail — battery choice is driven as much by physical size, hold-down type and parked current draw as it is by cranking amps, and getting one of the three wrong is how a correctly-specified battery ends up failing early.
An electric or plug-in BYD still has a conventional 12V battery, and it is the one that leaves the car dead in a car park. On the M3 specifically, which the vehicle database lists across model years 2015 to 2026, the safe approach is to read the label on the battery that is in the car now and match its group size, terminal side and capacity — or to give us the year and let us look it up.
