A Peugeot 204 battery in Dubai is a two-to-three year part, not a five-year one, and knowing that is the difference between replacing it on a Tuesday afternoon and replacing it in a car park at midnight.
The 204 is a saloon, which usually means a mid-size battery in an accessible bonnet position. That is not a detail — battery choice is driven as much by physical size, hold-down type and parked current draw as it is by cranking amps, and getting one of the three wrong is how a correctly-specified battery ends up failing early.
PSA cars with e-HDi or start-stop need EFB or AGM and a battery reset; a standard battery disables the system. On the 204 specifically, which the vehicle database lists across model years 1965 to 1977, the safe approach is to read the label on the battery that is in the car now and match its group size, terminal side and capacity — or to give us the year and let us look it up.
One loud click with bright dashboard lights is the starter. Rapid clicking with dimming lights is the battery or a corroded terminal. Starting fine and then dying while driving is the alternator. We test all three at the roadside before fitting anything, because replacing a healthy battery on a Peugeot 204 with a failing alternator leaves you exactly where you started, two days later.
With a range ending in 1977, this is very likely a conventional car with no start-stop system, which means a good standard battery in the correct group size does the job. AGM would last longer but you would be paying for cycle life the car never uses.
