A Peugeot 309 battery in Dubai is a two-to-three year part, not a five-year one, and knowing that is the difference between replacing it on a Tuesday afternoon and replacing it in a car park at midnight.
With a range ending in 1993, this is very likely a conventional car with no start-stop system, which means a good standard battery in the correct group size does the job. AGM would last longer but you would be paying for cycle life the car never uses.
Cooling system plastics and the thermostat housing are the heat items on the 1.2 and 1.6 turbo engines. For the battery specifically: park in shade where you can, drive far enough to actually recharge rather than only starting the car, and have it load-tested before summer rather than after. A battery that reads 12.4 volts at rest can still fail its load test, and the load test is the one that predicts the morning it does not start.
Battery choice on the 309 is driven as much by physical fit and parked current draw as by cranking amps. We check all three against the car rather than against the model name, because trim levels within one model can take different batteries.
PSA cars with e-HDi or start-stop need EFB or AGM and a battery reset; a standard battery disables the system. On the 309 specifically, which the vehicle database lists across model years 1985 to 1993, the safe approach is to read the label on the battery that is in the car now and match its group size, terminal side and capacity — or to give us the year and let us look it up.
